Our story

A family business handed down from father to son

For more than forty years, the Vitraux Imbert workshop has been a leading name in French stained glass. Founded in 1981 by Dominique Imbert, a master glassmaker known for his rigour, creativity and artistic sense, the workshop has grown steadily and built a genuine national reputation.

Over the decades, it has worked closely with the architects of France’s historic monuments, local authorities, dioceses and many heritage associations and institutions. That lasting trust rests on skills that can handle the simplest projects as well as the most complex monumental commissions.

Now run by Oleg J. Imbert, the founder’s son, the workshop carries on the family’s standard of excellence while bringing a modern, forward-looking approach.

Our method

A design office at the service of your project

Every project means working closely with you. From the outset, we operate as a design office to plan every stage of design or restoration and to answer your questions on aesthetic and technical choices.

01

Site survey

On-site assessment, measurements and photographic reports, analysis of technical and heritage constraints.

02

Model and samples

Presentation model, 3D rendering, and samples of glass and colours.

03

Test panel

A test panel to approve the design, materials and the way light comes through before production.

04

Making and installation

Glass cutting, glass painting, leading, cementing, removal and installation, and external protection for the windows.

The workshop in pictures

Where light takes shape

Light tables, antique glass, lead came, kilns and precision tools: a workspace designed for creation and restoration alike.

Our craftsmanship

Every step, one workshop

We put all our skills to work for heritage restoration and for monumental and private commissions. The projects you entrust to us are carried out by our own team, with full respect for the glassmaking tradition and with modern, high-performance equipment.

Our technical innovations

Adapting and modernising, safely

The art of stained glass cannot be separated from its technical side, which protects, strengthens and lets in more light. Once we have studied your project, the workshop will suggest the best solutions.

Stained glass in double glazing

Stained glass fitted into standard or made-to-measure double glazing: long-term preservation, easy cleaning and installation, sound and thermal insulation, and security inside and out.

Glass bonding

A technique developed by our workshop and praised for the Treasury room of Saint-Front Cathedral in Périgueux: layers of coloured glass without lead, giving depth of light and shifting reflections.

Backlighting

Built-in diffused lighting that shows the stained glass by day and by night, even without natural light: ideal for interiors, shops and partitions.
